Personal Bio
James Good is a consultant oncologist with a leading reputation in stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR) for metastatic (secondary) cancer of all kinds, including breast cancer.
James pioneered the introduction of MRI-guided radiotherapy in the UK and has developed an international profile in its use. He is the Clinical Director of Stereotactic Radiotherapy at GenesisCare.
SABR is a highly precise form of radiotherapy that can be used alongside drug treatment for secondary breast cancer. With oligometastatic disease – meaning that there are up to five secondary tumours – SABR can be used to eradicate all areas of visible cancer. In the setting of oligoprogression, where up to three tumours are growing while others remain controlled, SABR can be used to delay a change in drug treatment. MRI-guided radiotherapy is particularly useful for complex situations where the cancer has spread to the liver or lungs, or where re-treatment after previous radiotherapy is being considered. For symptomatic cancer in the spine, SABR is more effective at pain control than standard palliative
radiotherapy.
James trained in immunology and medicine in Cambridge and London and in oncology at the Royal Marsden Hospital. He has extensive experience in working with our team to provide SABR alongside drug treatment as part of a carefully coordinated plan.
